Trump was an experiment for me. His arrogance was pure entertainment. I watched all the Apprentice reality television shows. I said “You’re Fired” to my friends for fun.
When Trump came down the escalator in 2015 to declare his candidacy for president of the United States. I was mesmerized by his attitude. He called Mexicans drug dealers, criminals, and rapists. That threw up a huge red flag for me, but instead of being appalled by his racism, I cheered it on and embraced it.
It was fun to see somebody snub their nose at our system of leadership and call out the special interest side of government. He said he understood the system because he used it. He was a successful businessman who understood government. I thought, if anyone could improve our system of government, he could.
I was cheering on Donald Trump and the Trump train with my wife and family in tow. I didn’t pay attention to his legal problems. I didn’t care that during an Access Hollywood taping he admitted to sexually abusing women. That should have alarmed us. Our family has no tolerance for sexual abuse. But no, we were in too deep to admit we were wrong.
And then came his tweets. Not Tweets debating political policy or declaring Presidential opinions, but rotten, vengeful and spiteful tweets. Like an unchallenged bully in the schoolyard, Trump keeps his cronies in line, vilifies his enemies and incites his followers to violence.
Trump has always crossed legal boundaries in his business ventures. Trump started a university that cheated it’s students. He had to pay 25 million dollars in civil liability. The same with a charity Trump started. It turns out Trump was his own charity. He had to pay 2 million dollars in civil liability for that stunt.
I’m an intelligent individual. Why was I just listening to his words and not caring about his actions? My parents had given me that great advice repeatedly as a young man. Don’t listen to what people say as much as pay attention to their actions. Ironically, my parents are lifelong republicans and supporters of Trump.
It was hard for me to put my finger on it at first, but It turns out that Donald Trump has a strategy that he borrowed from Mien Conf, the autobiographical manifesto of Adolf Hitler. Besides Trump promising to lock up his political enemies if elected. He blames every American problem on his rivals. His critics instantly become his enemies. Blamers automatically get blamed. He won’t admit to any fault or wrongdoing. He’ll never admit that Biden is right about anything. His outrageous lies and rhetoric encourage anger and violence among his followers. He tells outrageous lies that his followers eat up without questioning or fact-checking.
All of this is alarming and should set off warning bells to the republicans. But instead, After Joe Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump declares, with no proof, that he, in fact is the winner and president of the United States still. It was like a political earthquake. The Republican leaders and the Republican propaganda police had no choice but to get in lockstep with his lies. Fox News immediately had it’s news personalities endorse and repeat his lies. A strategy that has cost them dearly in deep pocket lawsuits. Civil judgments that will end up in the Billions.
Trump then secretly assembled a shady crew of scamster lawyers and field soldiers to help him stay in power. The plan was centered around January 6th, a day that is traditionally uneventful. It’s the day the house and senate count the electoral college votes and officially declare the winner and next President of the United States.
Trump convinced 147 Republican leaders to go along with the coup attempt that day. It involved secretly switching legal Biden votes with forged Trump votes. The planned disruption would create a constitutional crisis that would keep Trump in power. And it almost worked. Trump’s plan to become America’s first Dictator came dangerously close to succeeding. If it wasn’t for the moral fortitude of the Vice President, Trump’s plan may have worked.
But it didn’t, and since then, Trump and his Republican Allies in government have denied there was even a coup attempt in the first place, downplaying the violence and destruction that day as no big deal. They even advanced a resolution declaring former President Donald Trump “did not engage in insurrection” on January 6th. That seems a bit self-serving.
In the end, Trump’s mouth has been writing checks that his ass can’t cash. He is losing cilvil case after civil case in court with judgements amounting to over a half Billion dollars. The courts recently ruled that other civil lawsuits concerning Jan 6th insurrection can now move forward. His 4 Criminal charges are slowly catching up with him too. The only solution to his 91 criminal charges is to win back the presidency and use his office as president to stop his prosecutions. The real question is are there enough Trump indoctrinated Americans to vote him in? Stand by.
